Facing issues with turning or finishing?
The real cause might surprise you…
Cutting tools wear out too quickly, uneven turning marks, inconsistent dye colors, white edges, or black that looks grey—these are common defects, but not unavoidable. We can help you eliminate them!
Did you know?
Many of the most frequent issues in turning and finishing actually stem from the quality of the blanks. Here are a few examples:
Are your tools wearing out too fast and the turning process slowing down?
Even with top-quality tools, the issue might be a material that’s too soft—often due to improper chemical hardening. This can also result in dull color and persistent white halos under the edge, even after tumbling.
Is your dye not absorbing evenly?
If your dyeing process is technically correct but you still see inconsistent shades, the issue might again be poor polymerization. Incomplete curing of the polyester can lead to irregular absorption, causing color variations within the same batch.
The good news?
These and many other defects can be prevented by ensuring proper chemical processing of the blanks.
