HEY THERE, WHAT’S NEW?

We have already seen a few months ago that the production of polyester sheets started in the mid-20th century in the United States, putting all producers of natural material buttons in crisis due to the flexibility and productivity of the resin, as well as its technical resistance compared to the materials already in use.

However, sheets are not the only way to produce polyester semi-finished products: in the late 1960s, the production method of bars emerged, fulfilling the need to replace urea resins and real horn, which were difficult to work with, while maintaining the same aesthetic effects and at a much more competitive and attractive price.

THE PRODUCER’S COMPETITION

Thus, the competition among button machine manufacturers began, as they endeavored to create increasingly safe and practical equipment for casting polyester bars. Part of the challenge was the design of tools for creating new fantasy effects that kept up with the current trends.

Bonetti and Tullio Giusi companies proposed their first models towards the end of the 1970s: this is the first Dismatic of Bonetti with some examples of washers produced with this machine.

THE FIRST DISMATIC

Italian ingenuity allowed the construction of a machine four times more efficient than those available on the market, with four simultaneous casts for the production of four bars at once.

The subsequent versions of the 1990s and 2000s then introduced the use of variable speed pumps and finally electronics, in the current Autodismatic, allowing for automatic tube filling with superior quality of the resulting effect.

What can be improved today?

Color and shape combinations have become increasingly complex and refined, however, these aesthetic qualities are achieved with a lot of technique but also with a lot of artisanal “craftsmanship”: this aspect makes the bar casting department of a button company the realm of “casting wizards” and “unexpected rejects” always difficult to quantify.

The new technology aims to improve production consistency, the certainty of replicating effects, and not least economic and environmental sustainability: are you curious to discover the two innovations that we will present in this sector during our EXPO100?!
